COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
I founded Vail Arizona Parents' Group back in February of 2021. I believed that there was no a place/forum where parents could come together and talk about what was happening in our district. As a group, we had the first Town Hall meeting with the district that same month. Parents and District administration came together, and we spoke about our concerns as parents, and the district had time to answer our concerns. After that meeting, our focus was to get children back into the schools for more than just a couple of days for a few hours, and with our involvement, schools did open more. The next concern was getting masks off our children, and our district became mask-optional outdoors before the end of the 2020-2021 school year, and fully mask-optional starting the 2021-2022 school year. We also fought for quarantines of healthy children to be stopped. And they have been stopped. Many other things have been done with the help of parents in the community.

I was there on April 27, 2021, with about another 200 people. I was there from beginning to end, and I can tell you that most of what is out there is not the full truth. The study session was adjourned, not canceled. The whole board did not leave the premises many have said. They did not hide in closets. The public did not vote for a new board. That was done by a few people that believed that the board had resigned, which was a rumor being spread by an outside source. It was a very eventful night, and many things were said. Sadly, people took advantage of our district to start spreading lies about what happened that night.

I have attended every single board meeting since November 0f 2020. I spoke on how important in-person learning is for my children, on how much loss of learning being at home caused. I have spoken about many other subjects since then, like our district's involvement with ASBA which supported the NSBA. I have spoken about bills in consideration at the legislature, and I have spoken about unmasking our children. I have attended and stayed the entire meetings, study sessions, and regular meetings, which no other person running can say they have done for the past year and a half. I believe by having done so, I am the most qualified to serve on the board. I understand how the board works, what work it takes to be a member, and the hours of work it takes to be the best governing board member the district can have.
